Reverse Canvassing

Knock every door in transient communities (students, low-income, renters) to register and ID EVERY RESIDENT, not just known voters – as a standard best practice in canvassing. Piloted among other people by James Hannaway in Michigan. The normal (crappy) way groups do voter canvassing is to only target likely voters during the voter ID period and then cross them off the list when it turns out they have moved so no time is “wasted” on them for GOTV. Changing this simple practice could engage a huge number of otherwise unregistered and unlikely voters.
