Create a new American tradition: Vote At The Dinner Table Day

family-eating-dinner-tableWe already have a National Voter Registration Day in America. In the same spirit, it’s time to establish a National Vote Together Day—because families who eat together should also vote together.

Remember, culture can beat strategy. So let’s spark a new cultural tradition in America: parents filling out their mail-in or sample ballot form at the dinner table—with their children looking on, asking questions, and participating.

Elected leaders, including President Obama and the First Lady, parent-teacher associations, celebrities, and civil society organizations could get the ball rolling. The aim is simple: make voting as American, normal, and societally expected as gathering with loved ones over a good meal.
